Anchorage Quick Facts
Anchorage Courts and Criminal Cases
All criminal cases in Anchorage are filed in the Third Judicial District courts. The Superior Court and District Court both operate from 825 W 4th Avenue in downtown Anchorage. The Superior Court handles felony charges and serious criminal matters. The District Court covers misdemeanors and lower-level offenses. Both courts use the same building and the same records request process, which keeps things straightforward if you need documents from either court.
The Anchorage trial courts are the busiest in Alaska. The municipality covers the city itself along with communities like Eagle River, Chugiak, and Girdwood. Any criminal case filed within the municipality goes through the 825 W 4th Avenue location. Court hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The main records phone line is (907) 264-0514. For email requests, use 3ANRecordsRequest@akcourts.us. You can also fax requests to (907) 264-0610 if you are in Anchorage, or (907) 264-0873 from outside the area.
The Alaska trial court directory lists contact details for all district and superior courts across the state, including Anchorage.
Search Anchorage Criminal Records Online
CourtView is the free public access system for Anchorage criminal records. You search at records.courts.alaska.gov/eaccess using a party name, case number, or citation number. No login is needed. Results show charge information, case status, hearing dates, and dispositions. CourtView covers cases from 1990 forward. Older paper records must be requested directly from the clerk's office at the courthouse.
To get copies of actual court documents, you submit the TF-311 ANCH form. This is the Anchorage-specific court records request form. You can find it through courts.alaska.gov/forms. Submit the completed form by email to 3ANRecordsRequest@akcourts.us, by fax, or in person at the courthouse. Email requests take about 5 to 7 business days. If you show up in person with a case number, simple documents are often ready the same day. Copy fees are $5.00 for the first document and $3.00 for each additional one. Certified copies cost $10.00 for the first page. If you don't have a case number, a research fee of $30.00 per hour applies. Payment is accepted by cash, check, money order, or credit card.
The Alaska court fee schedule lists current copy and certification costs for all Alaska courts.

The Anchorage Police Department website at anchoragepolice.com is the starting point for APD records requests, including incident reports and arrest logs.
Anchorage Police Department Records
APD records are separate from court records. The Anchorage Police Department keeps its own files, including incident reports, arrest logs, and investigation documents. You must request these directly from APD, not from the court. The primary method is through the APD Public Records Center online. In-person and written requests are also accepted. The Records Division is located at 4501 Elmore Road, Anchorage, AK 99507. For records inquiries, call (907) 786-8900 ext. 2. The non-emergency line is (907) 786-8500. Customer service hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
APD uses specific consent forms depending on the situation. Requesting records about yourself requires an Adult Consent Form. If you need records about your minor child, use the Juvenile Consent Form. Requesting records about an incapacitated adult under your legal authority requires a Guardian Consent Form. These forms are available through the online Public Records Center portal after you create a free account.
Requests estimated to cost between $40 and $250 require you to accept the fee estimate before processing begins. Requests over $250 require prepayment. APD calculates fees based on research time and any redaction needed. Documents and media like photos, audio, and video must be requested on separate forms. Each case must also be submitted as a separate request.
The APD records request page walks through the full submission process, including how to create an account and track your request status online.
Online submission through the APD portal is the fastest route for Anchorage police records. Once submitted, you can track the request and download the completed response through the same system.
Municipality of Anchorage Public Records
The Municipality of Anchorage runs a broader public records portal at muni.org. This covers records from city agencies beyond just APD, including administrative and government records. The Alaska Public Records Act under AS 40.25.100 gives the public a right to inspect most government records. To start a records request with a non-APD city agency, use the municipal portal and select the relevant department.
The municipal portal handles requests to all city departments, not just law enforcement. For records subject to the Alaska Public Records Act, agencies have 10 business days to provide an initial response.
Note: APD records requests go through the APD-specific portal, not the general municipal portal. Use muni.org for other Anchorage city agency records.
State Background Checks and DPS Records
The Alaska Department of Public Safety Criminal Records and Identification Bureau is headquartered in Anchorage at 5700 East Tudor Road. This is the main statewide agency for criminal history records. Because the headquarters is in Anchorage, local residents have easy access to walk-in service, and same-day processing is often available. Name-based criminal history searches cost $20.00. Fingerprint-based searches are $35.00 and require an FD-258 fingerprint card. Mail requests for name-based checks take 5 to 10 business days. Under AS 12.62.160, the person whose record is being checked has a right to review their own file. You can submit a DPS records request and track its status through dpsalaska.justfoia.com/publicportal.
Online crime reporting is also available through APD for certain incident types. You can report drug activity tips, fraud, harassment, theft, vandalism, and vehicle tampering online without calling dispatch.
Warrants and Inmate Lookup
Active Anchorage warrants can be checked through the Alaska State Troopers at dps.alaska.gov/ast/warrants. The database is updated daily and shows names, offense categories, and bond amounts. The Anchorage Trooper post is reachable at (907) 269-5511.
The Anchorage Correctional Complex is the main jail for the municipality. Hiland Mountain Correctional Center, located in Eagle River, is the state's women's facility. Inmate status at both facilities can be checked through VINELink. The system lets you search by name, check custody status, view booking information, and register for free notifications when custody status changes. It covers state facilities throughout Alaska, not just Anchorage.
The FBI Anchorage Field Office also operates here, making Anchorage the hub for both state and federal criminal justice records in Alaska.
